Nepal U19 team folded out Thailand for just 70 runs in 27.5 over before they set a target of 246 in the first inning. Skipper Prithu Baskota won the toss yet again and chose to bat first against host Nation Thailand. After entering the semi final with three wins in a row, Nepal is at top of the Group B in the 10 Nation ACC U19 Elite Cup 2011.
Nepal is playing its last game in the group stage. They needed a good and solid platform upfront after Skipper won the toss. But both the Openers went cheaply. Fazlur Khan had good starts in the tournament but failed to make a mark on this game as well and was caught by Kalra off Kumar on 7. Captain Prithu Baskota came at the crease and took the score to 134/4 before he got out. He scored 64 run with 6 fours and two huge sixes. He was supported by Sagar Pun 22(48 balls) at the other end.
After wicket falling at regular intervals, Nepali team were hoping at least a 200 runs on the board. Thanks to Pradip Airee who cheaped in for 22 runs after Skipper went. He too got out and then it was all the tailenders.
Rahul BK was judged lbw before he played a 19 run inning with 3 fours. Bhuwan Karki(36) then stayed at the crease just taking single and twos. He had a good unbeaten partnership of 49 runs with the last man Avinash karn(5) for the 10th wicket. They took the score from 196/9 to 245/9.
During the chase, Thailand started steadily. They were 7/0 at 5 over. At 21 run standing, Rahul BK had a direct hit at the stump and the first wicket fell for Thailand. The next wicket fell off Rahul again, the batsman was stumped. At 57 runs, their 5 wickets were down and Rahul took four of them. At one stage he had a figure of 4-0-6-4.
After that, Wickets started to tumble every now and then. At half way stage of the inning they could only manage 62 runs for the loss of 5 top wickets. On 27th over, Rahul BK took another wicket and grab the fifth one to his credit. Outstanding bowling kept on pressurizing Thailand as Bhuwan Karki took another wicket to keep Thailand chase to 72 for 7 at 26.2 overs.
At 27.2 overs, Thailand were bundled out and lost the match by mammoth 175 runs. Rahul had a match figure of 6.5- 0-15-8 wickets in the match.
