KATHMANDU, January 18:
Nepal ‘Blue’ defeated Nepal ‘Red’ by 6 wickets in a practice match played at TU Ground today as the preparation for ICC World Cup T-20 Qualifier 2012 to be held in UAE later this year.
Nepal ‘Red’ led by Paras Khadka opted to bat first winning the toss and made a low total of 100 runs in loss of 10 wickets in 19.5 overs. Opening pairs could not perform well as Subash Khakurel returned to the pavillion without opening the score as Avinash Karn sent him for LBW. Anil mandal made a good score of 18 runs off 22 deliveries including 3 fours. Dipendra Chaudhary made 10 runs. Pradeep Airee made 14 runs off 11 balls with 3 fours. Paras Khadka played an innings of 19 runs off 23 balls that included a six. Basanta Regmi was caught by the wicket keeper Mahesh Chhetri at his score of 9 runs. Sanjam Regmi made 15 runs off 13 balls including a four and a big six. Amrit bhattarai remained not out at 3 runs. 4 of the batsman went for a duck, namely Sagar Pun, Fazlur Rehman and Jatta Sgankar Sarraf.
Avinash Karn, Mahaboob Alam and Rahul BK grabbed 2 wickets each for the winning side. Jitendra Mukhiya, Shakti Gauchan, Prithu Baskota and Bhuwan Karki shared a wicket each for Nepal Blue.
In reply, ‘Nepal’ Blue led by Gyanendra Malla chased the target in 19.1 overs in loss of 4 wickets. Nepal Blue lost their first wicket at the score of 25 runs in 4.5 overs as Mahesh Chhetri was stumped by Subash Khakurel at the personal score of 11 runs. Paresh Lohani made 33 runs off 32 balls with 5 fours. Sharad Vesawkar remained not out at 27 runs off 36 deliveries. Sharad’s innings included 2 fours. Gyanendra Malla scored 6 runs off 6 balls while Naresh Budhayer remained not out at 17 runs off 23 balls including 2 fours. Mahaboob Alam was bowled by Basanta Regmi at zero score.
Basanta Regmi got the 3 wickets for Nepal ‘Red’ while one was run out. Regmi conceded only 10 runs off his 4 overs.
