Kathmandu/Cricnepal: Sainik Awasiya Mahavidyalaya(SAMV), Bhaktapur defeated Nepal Police School(NPS) by 56 runs in the opening day of the 5th Chief if the army staff inter school running cricket tournament at Army school ground, Bhaktapur.
SAMV who chose to bat first on winning the toss put up the total of 140 runs in 20 overs losing seven wickets.
Kiran Shrestha top scored with 43 runs off 41 balls including four fours while Niraj Shrestha made a 32-ball 29 with four fours. Gunjan Yadav remained unbeaten at 23 runs off 22 delivveries hitting three fours while Nirmal Bastakoti contributed 7 runs.
Bhupendra Oli picked four wickets from four overs conceding 22 runs while Ajay Chauadhari and Aryan Dipak Raut shared two scalps each for NPS.
In reply, man of the match Kiran Shrestha claimed two wickets and Suman Kuwar took equal wickets while Basu Baniya and Gunjan Yadav shared wicket apiece for SAMV to restrict NPS to 84 runs in 17.1 overs.
Bhupendra Oli scored 22 runs off 31 balls including a four while Chandan Upadhayay and Rajesh Chaulagain contributed 19 runs each. Bibas Rai addded 6 runs.
