Kathmandu/Cricnepal: Defeating Rajan Memorial International School by 98 runs in the finals of the 5th Chief of Army Staff Running Cricket Tournament 2069 organized in Sainik School Ground in Bhaktapur here today, Sainik Awasiya School defended its title again and became the only team to win the tournament four times in a row.
Sainik Awasiya School won the toss and decided to bat first. With the excellent innings of Kiran Shrestha and Aayush Jung Thapa Sainik attained the score of 174 runs with the fall of four wickets in the twenty overs game. Kiran Shrestha contributed 54 runs while Aayush Jung Thapa scored 64 (not out) for the team.Gunjan Yadav and Najik Bikram Rana respectively scored 20 runs and 14 runs.
For Rajan Memorial Int. School Sujan Chapagain took 2 wickets giving away 34 runs. Similary, Kiran Saud took the important wicket of Niraj Shrestha ,the opening batsman of Saink.
Rajan Memorial Int. School couldn’t defend the quality bowling of Sainik and were therefore packed up in 13.5 overs for just 73 runs. Only three batsman of Rajan Memorial Int. School could make double figure score. Praveen Raj Panta contributed 16 runs for his team while Anil MC and Kiran Saud respectively scored 12 and 10 runs.
Kiran Shrestha of Sainik took 7 wickets for just 22 runs. The 64* runs scorer for Sainik ,Aayush Jung Thapa had a wicket named in his account. Similarly, Gunjan Thapa took two wickets for Sainik.
For his 54 runs and 7 wickets Kiran Shrestha was announced as the player of the match. On the other hand on the basis of performance till semi-finals , Pramod Khatri of Rajan Memorial Int. School was declared as Best Batsman of the tournament for his 149 runs in 5 matches. With 14 wickets in his accounts, Aryan Adhikari of same team was declared as the best bowler. Player of the finals Kiran Shrestha was announced as the Player of the series.
Sainik Awasiya school received trophy along with the amount of Rs. 20000 while Rajan Memorial Int. School received trophy as well as cash of Rs. 10000.Prizes were distributed by Chief Guest – Chief of the Army Staff, General Chattra Man Singh Gurung, Lt. General Netra Bahadur and Lt. General Gaurav Samsher Rana.
