Nepal registered their first win in the ICC WCL Divison 3 defeating host Bermuda by convincingly 8 wickets with 38.4 overs remaining in the match played today at the St. Davids Cricket Ground in Bermuda.Skipper Paras Khadka out cased spectacular performance, first picked up 4 wickets in the first innings and scored 46 not out while chasing the target to give Nepal a thumping win over the Caribbean Host.
Winning the toss and fielding first Nepal knocked over Bermuda for mere 106 in 38.2 overs. Skipper Khadka lead from the front picking up four vital wickets for Nepal; Basanta Regmi got three, Shakti Gauchan, Sanjam Regmi and Chandra Sawad all picked wicket a piece. Captain of Bermuda Steve Outerbrige top scored with 29 while Hemp contributed with 16.
Chasing a small total Nepal got to 107 in just 11.2 overs. Shubash Khakurel started the inning for Nepal in impressive manner dispatching the first ball of the chase for a boundary. Shubash fell for 6 runs to Trott . Mandal added 16 of 16 balls before getting out to Trott again when the teams total was 35.
Paras and Malla then carried the team to victory. Paras smacked the first ball he faced for a six clearing his aggressive intent from the first ball. In the end skipper Paras ended with 46 naught out facing just 27 balls with 4 Fours and 2 sixes. Malla got 34 of 20 balls.
In the other matches played USA defeated Oman by 2 wickets. Losing the toss and put into bat first Oman put of 175 before getting knocked over in the last over. The last two wickets added 80 runs for Oman who were once struggling at 95-8. Chasing 176 USA made a slow start however Marshall consolidated soon for USA and guided his team to victory with a well fought half century. Oman had made inroads into the USA side in the middle of the innings. USA once 127-3 were soon 141-7. The lost their eight wicket in the 37th over at the score of 169.
Uganda defeated Italy in the other match by 23 runs. Batting first Uganda struggled getting 114/9 in 50 overs. Uganda bowlers however did a miraculous job restricting Oman to just 91. Italy were once cruising along with 56/2 but they lost their final 8 wickets in for just 41 runs giving Uganda their third victory.
With 3 wins in a row USA and Uganda are placed on top of the table, USA bettering Uganda in only Net Run Rate. Oman, Nepal and Bermuda with one win each stand third fourth and firth respectively. Italy has lost all of its three matches and is in the bottom of the table.
