Hundreds of kids took part in the trophy display tour, along with parents and academy coaches
Budding cricketers in the UAE received an opportunity to be up close and personal with the ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier UAE 2013 trophy, which was on tour around cricket clubs in Abu Dhabi and Dubai on 1 and 2 November.
The ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier UAE 2013 will be staged across six venues in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah from 15-30 November, and will feature 16 teams from across the globe.
The young cricket fans excitedly took photographs with the trophy and participated in a cricket quiz to win bats signed by the captains of the 16 teams participating in the tournament.
Hundreds of kids were part of the trophy display activation, and they were joined by equally impressed parents and academy coaches.
Dan D’Souza, an academy player at the Abu Dhabi Cricket Club and a UAE cricket fan said: “I love cricket and look forward to watching all the different international teams playing in the UAE and especially at our grounds here in Abu Dhabi. I wish my favorite team, the UAE, lifts this trophy and qualifies for the ICC World Twenty20 2014 in Bangladesh.”
The ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier UAE 2013 trophy is designed by Australian company Flynn Silver, and weighs approximately five kilograms.
