Nepal have seen the two extremes-record shattering win and utter humiliation the first two matches of ACC Women’s Premier 2014. The result speaks for inconsistency in the side-however Nepal will get an opportunity to forget the today’s misery as Nepal take on one of the minnows of the tournament-Bhutan tomorrow.
Considered as one of the weaker sides in the tournament Bhutan was convincingly defeated by Hong Kong in their first match and then went down to Thailand in their next game by 79 runs. However, Nepal’s loss to Thailand which was much more humiliating that that of Bhutan, will seep in Bhutan side as motivation. Nepal will draw motivation from the previous encounters where Nepal have always been the convincing winners.
Nepal have both the previous encounters against Bhutan. These teams first met in ACC Women’s T20 2009; Bhutan were all out for 31 runs-none of their batters getting to the double digits. After the opening stand of 20 runs Bhutan completely lost the track losing all 10 wickets for just 11 runs. Nepal’s Nary Thapa got five of those 10. Nary’s 5 wicket haul in this match is the only five wicket haul for Nepali Women in International Cricket.
Nepal and Bhutan also met in the last year’s ACC Women’s Championship, where Nepal chased the 66 run target losing 2 wickets.
