CAN Likely to Bind players in Central Contracts

Kathmandu- Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) is planning to reward 18 players with Central Contracts. If Pubudu Dassanayake’s proposal is accepted three grade of contracts will be given to 18 players based on their performance and each player will get monthly paycheck of 20k to 40k.

The contracts classified as Grade A, B and C will be worth 40k, 30k and 20k worth of paycheck per month. Dassnayake had presented the proposal for central contracts to CAN members and National Sports Council representatives prior to his Canada departure. His proposal lists 7 players with grade A contracts, 7 with Grade B and 4 with Grade C contracts.

Central contacts is an issue long discussed in Nepali Cricket. While test playing nations provide central contracts so that the cricketers boards get to determine things like how much players play, where they play, when they rest and not the player’s county team. But in Nepal its more of a financial incentive for players to continue the sports.
