Sanjam’s four-fer secures APF win in the opening match

Kathmandu- Sanjam Regmi’s four-fer gave (Armed Police Force) APF a flying start in the opening match of the Senior National Cricket Tournament 2071 in TU Ground, Kritipur on Sunday.

APF defended a target of 218 runs successfully against Kathmandu thanks to that four-wicket haul from former national player and off spinner Sanjam who finished with outstanding figures of 10-0-23-4.

There were good starts for R-3 Kathmandu batsman but no one could convert those stars into bug scores which eventually led to the downfall of the team. Kathmandu were restricted for 153 runs in 44.4 overs with Skipper Sudhir Sharma remaining not out on 25 off 35 balls.

Adil Khan top scored with 38 runs for Kathmandu while Bhupendra Chettri scored 25 runs. Apart from Sanjam, Yagyaman Kumal took two wickets while Aarif Sheikh and Pradeep Airee also grabbed one each.

Earlier, riding on Dipendra Chaudhary’s 52 runs, Subash Khakurel’s 25, Gyanendra Malla’s 23 runs, and Sanjaya Shrestha’s 22 runs APF posted 217/10 after 47.4 overs. Ujjwal Thapa and Ritesh Singh took 3 wickets each while Rupesh Shrivastav got 2 wickets for Kathmandu.

Army Club will take on Region No. 1 (Biratnagar) at TU Ground, while Region No. 2 (Birgunj) plays Region No. 5 (Nepalgunj) at Pulchowk Engineering Ground on Monday.
