Melbourne – Nepal U19 has thrashed UAE U19 by 149 runs in their first match of ACC Under-19 Premier League 2015 played at Bayuemas Oval, Kuala Lumpur on Friday.
After winning the toss, Nepal U19 opted to bat first and half century from Raju Rizal (62) helped his team to pile up 199 runs in 49.4 overs. The opening combination of Sunil Dhamala (1) and Sandeep Sunar (18) didn’t clicked in today’s match as Dhamala was out in first ball of second over. Aarif Sheikh managed 22 (43) runs. He scored 3 boundaries before getting out. Dipendra Singh Airee and Sourav Khanal put on a fight with 20 and 24 runs respectively.
Nepalese Batters Rajbir Singh (5), Yogendra Singh Karki (2), Prem Tamang (1), Sushil Kandel (6) contributed few runs while the No.11 Deepesh Shrestha’s 12 runs helped Nepal U19 to compile a competitive 199 runs in 50th over.
Zafri Zafardeen was the pick of the bowler as he grabbed three wickets while Ahsan Ali Khan and Abdullah Asif took two wickets each.
Meanwhile, chasing 200 runs target, UAE U19 were bundled out for a mere 50 runs in 20.5 overs. Outstanding bowling from the left-arm orthodox of Sushil Kandel ripped off the UAE lineup today. He had a match figure of 7-3-7-4 and that earned him the Man of the Match. Similarly, Sunil Dhamala had a great day at the other end with his line and length to pick up three wickets. Prem Tamang got a chance to bowl one over and he didn’t disappoint either and took last two wickets to end the game.
There was no fight at all from the UAE side except their skipper Waruna Perera, who scored 32 (38) at the opening but at the other end, wicket kept on tumbling. Six batsmen couldn’t even score a run.
