NSC to organise two-day cricket tournament

Kathmandu – National Sports Council (NSC) has announced to organise Prime Minister’s Cup, a two-day cricket tournament in mid june, ahead of senior team’s europe tour.

According to NSC’s member secretary Keshab Kumar Bista, the tournament will feature both men and women’s team.

Nepal Men’s team is set to play friendly match against Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) at Lord’s Cricket Ground in july. After that, they will travel to Netherlands to play two matches of fourth round of ICC World Cricket League championship matches against the home team.

“The recommendation for such tournament was made by cricket coaches and players and we have allocated 6 million budget to organise it”, Bista added.

The two-day cricket tournament will work as selection tournament for the senior team ahead of their europe tour.

  • Very good decision. Nepal cricket should focus on two day cricket alot. Only by this they will no the good batsmen and bowlers. Playing T20 every time is not going to benefit cricket Nepal. By T20, talent is recognize only but to develop that talent in the right direction, they need to play two day game. Players will strengthen and determined to play good strokes and placement.
    This tournament should have to schedule every year or alternate year.
