Records galore in 1st day of England-South Africa second test

Cricnepal – Hashim Amla and James Anderson created new records in the first day of the second Investec Test between England and South Africa.

English spearhead James Anderson became the first fast bowler to record 300 wickets in home Tests while South African star batsman Hasim Amla also has just gone past 8000 runs in Test cricket.

Amla, 34, playing his 105th test matches, passed 8000 runs mark with an average of 49.03. He has already scored 24 centuries and 32 half-centuries. He also became the fourth South African to complete 8000 runs in Test.

Meanwhile, Anderson grabbed his 471st wickets in 124 matches with an average of 28.44 and a strike rate of 57.4 per 100 balls.

South Africa won the toss and decided to bat first at Trent Bridge, Nottingham.

England is currently leading the ongoing four-match series by 1-0.
