Nepal announces squad for ACC Women’s Asia Cup 2024

The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has announced Nepal’s squad for the ACC Women’s Asia Cup 2024. Captain Indu Barma will lead the 15-player squad, which includes some notable absences and introduces some new faces.

Left-arm spinner Kritika Marasini is back in the team after a decent show in domestic cricket. Southpaw Rajmati Airee who also offers some left-arm pace bowling has also made it to the team. Sabnam Rai, Kajol Shrestha and Mamta Chaudhary have also kept their place.

Meanwhile, pacer Ashmina Karmacharya is notably absent from the squad, along with Rubbi Poddar and Apsari Begam. Additionally, spinners Alisha Khadiya and Laxmi Saud, who were part of the preliminary squad, did not make the final cut.

The tournament which is set to be played in Sri Lanka, kicks off on July 19. Nepal is in Group A alongside India, Pakistan and UAE. Similarly, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Malaysia and Thailand are in Group B. In this edition of the Women’s Asia Cup, eight teams will compete, divided into two groups of four teams. The top two teams from each group will advance to the semifinals.
