CricNepal/Kathmandu – APF registered third straight win in the Pepsi Standard Chartered T-20 National tournament and tightened its grasp for the semi final spot.
APF defeated Region No.1 Biratnagar by massive 84 runs, after Basanta Regmi continued his luminary performance in the tournament to grab the 2nd player of the match award in this tournament. Regmi made 35 runs for APF in teams total 159 runs. Paresh Lohani was the only player who up scored Regmi with 37 runs. Sharad Veswarkar made unbeaten 34 for APF.
In reply, Biratnagar was folded for mere 75 in 17th over as Basanta and Sangam Regmi grabbed two wickets a piece for APF. Mehaboob Alam top scored for Biratnager with 27 runs and Puspa made 18. The Biratnagar innings tumbled as non other batsmen could manage a score of double digits.
In the other match played at TU, Region no.3 – Kathmandu defeated Region No.2 – Birgunj by 5 wickets. Batting first, Birgunj made 138 runs losing 5 wickets. Surah Kurmi top scored with 32 runs and Amit Shrestha contributed with unbeaten 27. In reply, Kathmandu reached the target in second ball of 19 th over. Opening the batting for Kathmandu Robin Joshi and Pramod Basnet added 85 for the team to take the game away from Birgunj. Joshi made 47 runs and was adjudged the player of the match.
Promod gave him a steady hand wth 35 runs. Indra Kamal Manandhar remained unbeaten on 24 to guide Kathmandu to victory.
