Defending champions Nepal APF Club and runner ups of previous year tournament Region No 5 (Nepalgunj) started the Women´s National Cricket Tournament with wins on thrusday.
Biratnagar vs. APF
APF thrashed Region No 1 (Biratnagar) by 110 runs at the TU Cricket Ground, Kirtipur
APF put up 185/6 in allotted 40 overs after being invited to bat first by Biratnagar. APF then knocked over Biratngar for just 75 runs.
Sita Rana Magar who opened top scored for APF with 64 n.o of 63 balls. Holding one end till the end she struck as many as nine boundires. Sarita Rana Magar made 40 n.o while Jyoti Pandey contributed with 25.
Chasing Biratnagar lost six batter for a duck and if it was not for 32 runs from Rashmi Sharma and 22 from Sabina Shrestha, the defeat would have been way more embarrassing. None of the other batters touched the double digits for Biratnagar.
Sonu Khadka and Karuna Bhandari claimed three wickets each for APF while Rubina Chhetri and Sarita Magar took two wickets each to bundle out Biratnagar.
Birgunj vs. Nepalgunj
Nepalgunj edged past Region No 2 (Birgunj) by seven wickets at the Army Cricket Ground, Bhaktapur.
Birgunj elected to bat and put up only 97 runs losing all its wickets in 28.4 overs. Rachana Aryal and Rojina Aryal top scored for Birgunj with 14 runs each. Samapun lead the wickets tally for Nepalgunj with three wickets. Nary Thapa, Trishna Singh and Samjhana Sharma got 2 wickets each.
Defending small total Birgunj bowlers were all over the place and gave away as many as 35 extras.
Nepalgunj chased the total successfully in just 14 overs losing only three wickets as captain Nary Thapa blasted 52 runs off 46 balls. She clobbered 10 boundaries to seal the easy victory. Nary Thapa was declared the player of the match.
