Kathmandu – The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) bade farewell to the Senior National Cricket team on Tuesday afternoon amid a function in Kathmandu for the upcoming ICC World Cricket League Division 2.
The 18 men squad along with the Coach Pubudu Dassanayake and the supporting staff were present at the function.
CAN also felicitated the ICC World Cricket League Division 3 winning team with a cash prize of Rs.50000 each. Likewise, Devendra Shresha representative from Roots Fashion, the official distributor of Adidas brand in Nepal gifted kits to each member of current squad.
[poll id=”6″] Similarly, CAN officially announced the National Player’s Contract for 2015-2016. The contract started from January 1 to December 31, 2015.
Acting General Secretary of CAN – Uttam Kumar Karmacharya and Skipper Paras Khadka signed the contract which is categorized in four grades. The Players included in Grade A would receive NRs.35,000 while Grade B gets NRs. 25000. Similarly, Cricketers listed in Grade C would receive NRs. 15000 and NRs.5000 will be given to Grade D listed players per month.
However, Players like Prithu Baskota & Sanjam Regmi didn’t get their place in the Contract list.
Meanwhile, Ranjit Acharya, the Advertising Entrepreneur gave a motivational speech to the team. He also informed the media about the delay of Toyota Car to be gifted to Skipper Khadka after his best performance in the ICC World Twenty20 held in Bangladesh last year. “Due to issue of duty free, the file has been delayed by Ministry of Finance.”, Acharya said.
Likewise, Coach Pubudu Dassanayake also spoke about the preparation of the team and is satisfy with the squad and their fitness. “Personally, I am very satisfied how things went in this last four weeks. We have had good preparations in the past but for me in this four weeks, I have seen a lot of improvements in the boys. I have seen this team as a group and I cannot single out one person from this camp. Either from Fitness wise, batting, bowling or mentally, there are so much of improvement and I would say it’s a fantastic preparation.”, Coach Dassanayake said.
Dassanayake also awarded two of the players who were best in the closed Camp held in Kathmandu. Among all the players he along with Skipper and Assistant Coach – Binod Das selected Karan KC and Sagar Pun. Both received Nepal Cricket Jersey with “Much Improved player” and “The Fittest Tag” written on it.
The team will left for South Africa on January 7 at 4 PM via Qatar Airways. They will play three One Day practices against Benoni Northerns Cricket Club before moving to Namibia for the ICC World Cricket League Division 2 that starts from January 17.
Nepal will play against Uganda in the first match at Wanderers Affies.
