Nepal Govt. allocates 2.4 bn budget for sports

Nepal Budget 2016-2017

Kathmandu – Nepal Government has announced an exciting NRs. 2.4 billion budget allocated for sports for the fiscal year 2016-2017 on Saturday.

Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel has allocated a total budget of 2.4 billion for Ministry of Youth and Sports with Rs 2.2 billion as recurrent expenditure and Rs 190 million as capital expenses.

This Fiscal year budget will help in the construction of cricket stadiums in Mulpani, Bhairahawa and Dhangadi (Fapla) which is set to be completed within three years.

Last year, Government had allocated Rs 1.265 billion for the Ministry of Youth and Sports. Rs 50 million was allocated for the construction of Mulpani and Bhairahawa cricket grounds.

This year, the amount has increased by Rs.230 million where 2.05 billion is for sports.

National Sports Council Member Secretary Keshab Kumar Bista welcomed the budget allocated to sports sector for the fiscal year 2016-17. Speaking to Kantipur, Bista said there were lots of positive aspects for sports sector in the budget.

President of Dream Fapla project (Fapla International Cricket Stadium) Subash Shahi also welcomed the budget allocated to Fapla for the fiscal year 2016-2017.
