Kathmandu – Sandeep Lamichhane, Nepal’s young leg-spinning sensation has been bought by Delhi Daredevils team for the base price of INR 20 lakhs in the ongoing Auction of Indian Premier League 2018.
The 17-year-old leggie becomes the first Nepalese player to win an IPL contract. He was among the big pool of 578 cricketers, including 360 Indians.
Meanwhile, he is currently in Dubai for the preparation of ICC World Cricket League Division Two and his IPL team along with the former Australian Ricky Ponting, the head coach is already excited to welcome him.
“The first Nepali player in the history of the Vivo IPL! It gives us great pleasure to welcome the 17-year-old leg-spinner”, Delhi team tweeted.

Delhi Daredevils has already picked 23 players for this year’s IPL. Lamichhane will be playing with players such as Prithvi Shaw (Batsman), Abhishek Sharma (All-rounder), Manjot Kalra (Batsman), Colin Munro (All-rounder), Trent Boult (Bowler), Gautam Gambhir (Batsman), Jason Roy (Batsman), Amit Mishra (Bowler), Shahbaz Nadeem (Bowler), Glenn Maxwell (All-rounder), Harshal Patel (All-rounder), Rahul Tewatia (All-rounder), Jayant Yadav (All-rounder), Vijay Shankar (All-rounder), Mohammed Shami (Bowler), Daniel Christian (All-rounder), Gurkeerat Singh (All-rounder), Kagiso Rabada (Bowler), Avesh Khan (Bowler), Sandeep Lamichhane (Bowler), Chris Morris (All-rounder), Shreyas Iyer (Batsman), Rishabh Pant (WK/Batsman)
