17-year-old Sandeep Lamichhane on Thursday created another history by becoming the first cricketer from Nepal to bag a Caribbean Premier League (CPL) contract.
Lamichhane, 17, was signed up by the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots for a fee of USD 5,000 during the CPL auction in London. He had not set a base price before entering the auction.
West Indies’s legend Phil Simmons is the head coach of the Patriots. Ben Cutting, Evin Lewis, Tabraiz Shamsi, Brandon King, Devon Thomas, Sheldon Cottrrell, Fabian Allen, Sharmarh Brooks, Jeremiah Louis, Alzarri Joseph, Carlos Brathwaite, Mohammad Mahmudullah, Tom Cooper, Graeme Cremer, Ibrahim Khaleel, Javelle Glenn and Sandeep Lamichhane are playing this 2018 season of CPL for the franchise based in Saint Kitts and Nevis. Chris Gayle is the captain of the team.
The leg-spinner had already made history after becoming the first Nepalese player to play in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He was picked by Delhi Daredevils team for the base price of INR 20 lakh.
