Malaysia comeback to win series against Singapore

Malaysia Cricket Team has grabbed a stunning 2-1 series win against Singapore after beating the hosts by 5 wickets in a rain halt match on Thursday night. Despite losing the first match of the series, Malaysia came back stronger to bag the series.

Opting to bat first in a series decider, Singapore posted a decent score of 122 runs in 13 overs after the rain disruption. Opener Surendran Chandramohan struck 45 runs from 26 balls whilst Janak Prakash and Manpreet Singh added 22 and 17 runs respectively from 12 balls each. Malaysia conceded whopping 19 extras throughout the inning.

Anwar Rahman pocketed 3 wickets for Malaysia, Syed Aziz and Virandeep Singh also grabbed 1 each.

In reply, Malaysia chased the total with 5 balls spare following an electrifying finish from Sharvin Muniandy. While the equation was 30 from 3 overs, Muniandy smashed 26 runs from 9 balls hammering 3 biggies. Zubaidi Zulkifle yielded a cracking start before Muhamad Syahadat and Syed Aziz added important 24 and 20 runs respectively.

Aryaman Sunil’s 3-wicket haul went in vain as Singapore was unable to defend the total. Akshay Puri and Vinoth Baskaran also grabbed 1 wicket each for the losing side.

Singapore started the series with 4 wicket win, however, Malaysia registered 23 runs victory and a 5-wicket win in a remaining couple of matches.

After the brilliant series win, Malaysia is hosting Thailand, Bhutan, and the Maldives in a quadrangular series starting on 2nd July.
