Nepal registers an easy win over Oman

Nepal has registered the first win in the ongoing Tri-Series between Nepal, Oman, and the USA under CWC League 2 fixture. Nepal defeated Oman by 7 wickets after restricting them to a tiny total of 163.

Openers Kushal Bhurtel and Aasif Sheikh put on a show sharing 114 runs stand for the opening wicket. Aasif completed a back-to-back half-century whereas Bhurtel who was dropped on 1 run scored 56 runs before walking back in 24th over.

Khawar Ali trapped Dev Khanal for 10 runs before Fayyz Butt dismissed Aasif Sheikh for 62 runs. Sheikh who started the inning quite aggressively took time and anchored the inning.

Rohit Paudel at the end scored a quick 26* runs from 21 balls hammering a four and six each, leading Nepal towards a victory with 16.5 overs spare. Dipendra Singh Airee remained unbeaten for 6 runs.

Fayyz Butt grabbed a couple of wickets for Oman whilst Khawar Ali pocketed one.

Earlier in the first inning, Nepal wrapped up Oman for a tiny total of 163 runs. Opting to bat first at Moosa Cricket Stadium, Pearland didn’t go right for Oman following a tight bowling display from Nepali bowlers. Karan Kc was the pick of a bowler for Nepal against Oman once again as he grabbed 2nd fifer of his career, both coming in this series.

Oman had a nightmare of a start as they were 5 down for just 49 runs in the 17th over. However, Skipper Zeeshan Maqsood shared 83 runs with Sandeep Goud to guide Oman towards a respectful total. Maqsood could not repeat the last match’s heroic as Dipendra Singh Airee trapped him lbw for 52 runs. Goud too was sent back quickly for 47 by Karan Kc.

Oman were able to add 17 more runs for the last 3 wickets with the little contribution of Fayyz Butt and Naseem Khusi. Eventually, Oman were bowled out for 163 with 19 balls spare.

Karan Kc who was sensational in both powerplay and death over grabbed a fifer conceding just 33 runs. Sandeep Lamichhne picked up 3 wickets whereas Dipendra Airee and Sompal Kami pocketed 1 wicket each.
